Our selection at Marketview is beyond compare, and we spend a lot of time trying to turn our customers onto new things; new styles, grapes they’ve never tried, wines from regions they’ve never experienced. Sometimes though, the most exciting thing can be a little more obvious.
Chardonnay is possibly the most ubiquitous white wine in the world, CaliforniaChardonnay even more so. While its popularity is unparalleled, its not too often that we find an example we are truly excited about. But check this out, we’ve recently brought in two under $10 California Chardonnays that completely blew us away, especially for the price.
In recent years, California Chardonnay started to separate into two categories; crisp, all stainless steel wines, or huge, buttery, oaky wines. The idea of balance is too often missing, when you have a fruit forward, juicy wine with great acidity, all backed up by a slightly creamy, plush backbone.
These two wines are very classic California in style, ripe, tropical fruit with that decadent touch of vanilla that makes California Chardonnay….well, so Californian. We’d put either of these wines up against wines in the same category at twice the price.
