Pungent aromas of grapefruit pith, green and white pepper and spices. Offers good body and intensity, with a juicy greenness to the grapefruit, pepper and mint flavors. Brisk but nicely ripe--in contrast to so many 2012s.

The 2009 Alvarez de Toledo was bottled just a week before the wine was presented but seems to be showing no symptoms of distress. Balsamic, leather, and black fruits are the principal notes struck by this suave effort that over-delivers in a big way. Like its older sibling, it can be enjoyed now but will have more to say in 2-3 years.

This unoaked beauty delivers a lovely perfume of baking spices, melon, peaches, and mineral. Round, spicy, and pleasure-bent, this smooth-textured, impeccably balanced effort over-delivers in a very big way. Drink it over the next 3-4 years.
