Frisk Prickly Riesling
Pale yellow, with a bubbly haze. Citrus rind, peach, smoke and ginger on the fragrant nose. Plump, ripe and sweet but almost shockingly lively, with very good clarity and cut to the flavors of pit fruits, spices, smoke and quinine. Tactile and energetic but also a touch sweet, finishing long and sappy. This singular wine is 8.7% alcohol, with a pH of 3.21 and 35 g/l of residual sugar. Evodia Old Vines Garnacha
Glass-staining ruby. Aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, smoky minerals and white pepper, with a suggestion of candied rose. Supple on entry, then firmer in the mid-palate, with vibrant flavors of black and blue fruits and floral pastilles. Hahn Pinot Noir
The Hahn 2011 Pinot Noir comes out of the gate with aromas of fresh mixed berries and dark cherries leading to hints of lavender, violets and a touch of cassis. This is an exceptionally balanced wine with good acidity whose flavors are given structure by a light touch of caramelized oak. This versatile wine stands alone well but would be a perfect partner to a variety of fish, poultry or pasta dishes. Try it with risotto with shellfish, wild mushrooms and pancetta, roast five-spice duck with mango chutney or a traditional pairing of grilled salmon with Pinot Noir pan sauce and garlic mashed potatoes.
