Description
The NV Port is a blend of 44% Merlot and equal amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Lemberger for the rest. Aged for eight months in neutral oak, it comes in with 130 grams per liter of residual sugar and 19.7% alcohol. Speaking as the actual reviewer for Port, let's get this out of the way first: I shudder at calling this Port, of course (not my fault, Portuguese peeps; that's what the label says). That said, granting some difference in flavor and aromatic profiles, with more herbs on the finish, this is something that works well as a nice Ruby Port, maybe even a nice Ruby Reserve. Lush, tasty, aromatic and very Port-like, this is a pretty fine FLX imitation that gets all the basics just right. The structure is more modest than its character, but I'm relatively impressed because this just seems so real. 88 Points Wine Advocate
