Bottled at cask strength, the new NULU Straight Bourbon is unfiltered and single barrel. That means you get to taste exactly what comes out of the barrel and it's not easy to find that feature on the shelf, says Harrison Hyden, Master Distiller with Prohibition Craft Spirits. While there are always experimental batches and new things to offer at the bar and gift shop, the NULU Straight Bourbon completes and compliments the set. The nose smells of corn and is on the younger side. As it opens up it evolves to caramel, banana bread, cinnamon, vanilla icing and baking spices. At first the palate is creamy, with loads of vanilla and cinnamon hitting the tongue in a pleasant manner. Then it takes a hard left turn and transitions to spice, specifically cracked pepper with a hint little hint of corn. The finish is thin, dissipates quickly while leaving a lingering burn/ notes of cracked pepper on the tongue.
